Why its not Hardik Pandya's fault?
There is a lot of talk going around the five-time champions since they replaced Rohit Sharma as captain of their team. It's a gutsy decision, and the franchise received a lot of outrage from Mumbai Indians fans. They traded with Gujarat Titans and got Hardik Pandya, making him the captain of the team. Their decision is quite understandable since Hardik provides a lot of value to the team as a player and as a leader. Hardik successfully led his previous team to two finals and won the championship in 2022.
But when he replaced Rohit Sharma as captain, there was a lot of outrage from Rohit Sharma's supporters against Hardik Pandya. Similarly, when Kohli captains, all the discussions revolve around making Rohit Sharma the Indian captain since he won the IPL five times.
Hardik Pandya got an opportunity to personally captain one of the biggest franchises in cricket, where his life started. It's an awesome thing for anyone. Everybody should have taken the same opportunity if they had gotten it. I don't understand the negativity around his decision.
When IPL started, there was much discussion when Hardik Pandya told Rohit Sharma to move to third man. Isn't that the captain's duty to adjust the field? What else do they need? Rohit to keep wickets and stand near the stumps?
Also, when Mumbai conceded the highest runs against SRH, a lot of hatred was directed against Hardik Pandya, which is understandable. He should have shown better captaincy, like bowling Bumrah earlier, and his own batting performance should have been better. But personal abuse against him after the match is not good for the Mumbai Indians. So called fans went to the extent of even starting a trend of #RIPHardikPandya.
If the Mumbai Indians fans or Rohit fans need to ask questions about the captaincy change, then they should ask the management who made the decision, not Hardik Pandya. Whoever is at fault, one family is not one family anymore.
