In the 8th match of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) led by Pat Cummins defeated Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians (MI) by 31 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27.

Losing the toss, SRH were sent in to bat and capitalized on the opportunity, posting a mammoth total of 277/3, the highest-ever in IPL history. Heinrich Klaasen's 80, along with contributions from Abhishek Sharma (63), Travis Head (62), and Aiden Markram (42), led the charge.

Chasing the target, MI's openers, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, started strongly with a half-century partnership. However, despite a stunning fifty from Tilak Varma and support from Naman Dhir, MI faltered and were restricted to 246/5.

Cummins praised the home crowd for creating an electrifying atmosphere throughout the game.
